Berchtesgaden Eagle Nest Reopens As Tourist Marvel
The Berchtesgaden Eagle Nest in the Bavarian Alps, once Hitler’s Chancellery retreat, is now a major tourist site. Since World War II over three million visitors have toured the mountain top, where a brass elevator and restored furnishings replace looted items. A cross stands atop the 5,674 foot peak as pilgrims pray daily.
