Restoration Of A Landmark In Middletown’s Van Derveer House

The McKnight Kinnes restore the 1825 Van Derveer house at 214 Thorn Hill Lane Middletown turning it from Old 205 S Broad St. into a revived Greek Revival landmark. They preserve the nine steps to the porch and add an eagle weather vane while retaining ghosts of past occupants. The home once hosted Dr Peter Van Derveer and his family and was the social center as Middletown grew around the canal and grove once chosen by Nathaniel White as the owner built their mansion.
