California Water Plan fuels decades of California dispute
A statewide water plan aims to move surplus northern water to the arid south. The project includes 21 dams, 685 miles of aqueducts, six power plants, and 22 pumping plants. Key sources are the Feather River and Sacramento Delta, with the Perris Reservoir serving the Los Angeles basin as construction continues toward 1973 completion. The venture faces criticism as a perceived boondoggle and faces ongoing political divides.
