Safety Is Its Business at 425 N. Michigan Ave Chicago
The National Safety Council headquarters occupies the fourth and fifth floors of a red brick warehouse at 425 N. Michigan Ave Chicago. The group once logged 3 million manhours without a disabling injury from 1958 to 1963 and rewards itself with an Award of Honor plaque. The council runs ongoing safety campaigns and provides extensive information to address industrial, highway, and drinking-driver safety. Brooks McCormick of International Harvester Co. serves as chairman of a 200 member board with heavy representation from manufacturers, industry, and government.
