Reversed process battery cell demonstrated in Cambridge
In Cambridge, England a 30 by 15 by 12 inch model cell produced 5 kilowatts by mixing hydrogen and oxygen to yield water. The device, heart a chamber with a nickel plate in caustic soda solution, reverses the storage battery reaction, but bulky control gear and gas tanks limit current design. British inventor F T Bacon, aided by the NRDC, has pursued the concept for 25 years.
