Butler County Fair Opens With Attendance Near 14 Thousand
The 121st Butler County Fair opened at the fairgrounds with about 13 700 paid entrants Sunday and weather trimming turnout by about 700 from last year. Grange displays dominated judging with Collinsville Grange taking first place and a new Pomona booth featured along with a Junior Grange booth. Beverly Blakley, 17, Collinsville, was named 1971 junior fair queen. 4H clubs from Middletown and surrounding areas posted ribbons and new designations replaced the old first through third places. An aspirational display titled The Kid a dune buggy by Don Moore of Ross High School drew attention as other exhibits were judged today. The fair runs through Friday night.
