Germantown Council approves North Main sewer repair plans
Germantown Village Council approved drafting construction drawings for a storm sewer repair along North Main Street and discussed funding. County commissioners added North Main to eligible streets for license plate tax riding and approved transferring 45,680 in permissive tax funds to the project, covering about 80 percent of costs. An ordinance to award a construction contract without formal bidding may save about 20 weeks of bidding time. Bids for Butter Street repair are set for Sept. 1 at noon. The council also hired a sixth full time officer, Richard Johnson, 24, of Kettering, boosting manpower amid recent shortages. The village applied for a federal CETA grant for two service department workers and six or seven summer positions, contingent on approval and supervision. An ordinance to regulate parking wide vehicles limits them to 78 inches on village streets, with loading/unloading exceptions for one hour.
