Cost of living climbs in July 1974 CPI
The government's July 1974 Consumer Price Index rose eight tenths of a percent, marking a rare sub one percent monthly increase this year. Annual inflation stands at 9.6 percent, with July prices 11.8 percent higher than July 1973, the largest 12 month jump since 1947. Higher interest costs for home buyers and pricier cars medical care and restaurant meals drove the rise. Regular gasoline averaged 55.8 cents a gallon.

Cyprus Talks Possible as Ecevit Seeks Restart
