Warren officials join to fight heroin county collaboration grows
In Franklin Warren County officials and lawmakers convened a closed meeting with about 75 stakeholders from law enforcement mental health education prosecutors and judges to plan a broad anti heroin strategy. State Sen. Shannon Jones said a collaborative effort is forming with future contact sharing and potential legislation. Local leaders stressed networking and next steps to coordinate actions against heroin use and its impact.

Shelby deputies mourn Emir a former K-9 deputy who died after a brain tumor at his handler’s Sidney home. Emir assisted on 169 narcotic searches aiding seizures of 462 grams of cocaine and 130 grams of marijuana and helped in three large drug busts. He helped generate over 5.1 million dollars in seizures and was visited by President George W Bush on his birthday. He will receive a wall plaque at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
