State owns wood from Zaleski sawmill and forests
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources runs the Zaleski sawmill which buys trees from state forests to produce 312,000 board feet yearly. Most timber comes from Zaleski with the rest from nearby forests, supporting state projects from bridges to college buildings. The operation serves as an educational site and follows a strict forest management plan.
