Chancellor Adenauer and Mayor Brandt accuse the Communists of human rights abuses during a Bundestag session on the Berlin crisis. Adenauer pledges increased NATO military readiness and calls for free elections for a unified Germany. Brandt urges UN intervention and condemns East Germany as a Cold Hungary-like regime, warning against threats to escape rights.
Jacqueline Kennedy watched Noel Coward's Sail Away at the Colonial Theater in Boston as the shipboard romance musical drew her cheer, with a Kennedy line eliciting laughter. She arrived seven minutes before curtain, praised the show backstage, and left without photos.
