South Viet Nam leader Khanh, after stepping from premier to president under a new constitutional framework, plans a war cabinet to lead the campaign against Communists. The Military Revolutionary Council will have to be consulted before decrees. He says he has led a totality for six months.
Marie Miller a 23 year old Dayton divorcee with two young daughters offered to marry a Bedouin Arab sheik for 50 000 dollars for one year she says she would take her children along if accepted and claims the move would provide financial security despite unsure response from the proposed groom.
Viet Nam dispatch reports a Communist battalion ambushed two government posts in the Mekong River delta late Sunday, wounding and killing government troops totaling 126 casualties. A helicopter operation against the Viet Cong unit killed about 10 guerrillas and carried off around 40 more.
Government sources say Nguyễn Khánh will name cabinet members within a week and replace Maj. Gen. Duong Van Minh, who held a figurehead presidency. Minh remains adviser as Khánh reshapes power while stressing cooperation with American authorities in all military tasks.
Premier Moise Tshombe asked the United States to send long range scout planes to watch eastern Congo rebels. A U.S. embassy official said the appeal was forwarded to Washington.
