Adlai Got Off Floor To Win It In 1952
Adlai E Stevenson shifted tactics after Minnesota to win the 1952 Democratic nomination. He spoke to farmers in the South and Midwest, shed elite image, and built broad support while criticizing Ike on farms and scandals. Kefauver and Truman challenged him, but Stevenson widened his delegate lead and aimed to sweep the convention. He claimed a strong, broad backing including new governors and legislators.
