Aid to Brazil questioned by GAO report
A GAO report to Congress questions when Brazil's economy is strong enough to end direct U S aid. It notes Brazil's 1968 1974 growth, $4.2 billion in foreign reserves, and uneven living standards with per capita incomes of $550 in the south and $180 in the north. It criticizes current aid as misspent, largely going to private schools and southern regions.
