29 Area Men Enlist In Armed Services
Twenty nine Middletown area men enlisted in the U S Army or Air Force in July, via the Middletown Recruiting Station. Of the 29, 19 joined the Army and 10 the Air Force. basic training for Army at Ft Knox and Air Force at Lackland AFB. Names and local addresses of enrollees listed.

Beating Charge Against School Head Is Dropped
Alliance Ohio AP reports a beating charge against Alliance School Superintendent Russell E. Schafer was dropped after a court action. Barry Hawkins claimed he was struck. Schafer had resigned but his resignation was disputed. The school board argued the post was offered to another man. Judge D Deane McLaughlin ruled Schafer could continue.
