Ohio agricultural experts forecast bumper harvests for corn and soybeans after a wet spell improved soil moisture. Belle becomes first hurricane of 1976 in Atlantic

Tropical Storm Belle grew into the season’s first hurricane with winds up to 80 mph. A hurricane watch covers the Atlantic coast from Georgia to Cape Hatteras as Belle moves northwest about 350 miles east of Palm Beach. Gale winds extend 100 miles north and 75 miles south of the center.
