U S officials report North Vietnam has alert ed six home based divisions amid signs of a possible country wide offensive in South Vietnam. Analysts say Hanoi may seize on U S turmoil over impeachment to press harder while authorities deny aiming to influence Senate aid cuts.
U S Rep Walter E Powell of Fairfield has not commented on impeachment or resignation. His administrative assistant Sam Hale said Powell has not speculated and is awaiting developments.
