Cambodians Recapture Skoun at Strategic Crossroads
Cambodian strike forces backed by U S fighter bombers seized the damaged town of Skoun ending a seven day Communist occupation. Skoun sits at the junction of Highways 6 and 7 north east of Phnom Penh in the northern front. About 500 Communist troops were reported killed with 10 Cambodian casualties. Air support came from U S South Vietnamese and Cambodian air forces. A fresh Communist attack east of Phnom Penh was repelled.
