At Poland Spring Missouri center Avco Corporation runs a two year program for women 16 to 21. In 1969 673 graduates were placed 86 percent in jobs or further education. Since inception 101000 of 144000 enrollees have moved to work education or military service. Critics say cost is high while backers credit outcomes and reduced futility.
