Sergeant claims transfer tied to reporting concealed criminal record
A Marine Corps sergeant testified to congressional investigators that she was moved from Mansfield to Camp Lejeune after reporting a recruiting sergeant who hid a recruit's prior drug conviction. The Cleveland Plain Dealer cites confidential sources saying an internal probe cleared Sgt. John Medeiros of wrongdoing amid revelations the transfer followed the probe. Medeiros allegedly forged the police record to shield Parker, though he recalls nothing of the investigation. The matter is part of tests by Sen. Metzenbaum's staff.
