Fires at Diamond and Miller Road Struck Twice in Two Hours

Middletown firefighters battled a Diamond International scrap paper blaze at 407 Charles St. with forklifts hauling reeking bales while a separate house fire at 4425 Miller Rd sent flames from a rear window. Smoke and water flooded the scene as Red Cross provided meals and investigators began determining the causes.

Nixon memoirs frame Watergate as PR problem

Cleveland woman dies in Indianapolis motel fire

A Cleveland woman, Patricia Nicholas, died in a southeast Indianapolis motel blaze that caused 2 million dollars in damage. Seven others were injured, including a man who jumped from a second floor window of the Best Western Motel near Beech Grove. Investigators suspect a discarded cigarette igniting trash in a storage area under the stairway.
