Lima State Hospital inquiry to action next week
Attorney General William J. Brown pledged action at Lima State Hospital after a night meeting with current and former staff. He said findings would go to Governor Gilligan, who may act, or Brown would. The probe concerns alleged mistreatment of criminally insane patients amid “atrocities” described. A patient, Robert L Fortiers, died earlier from drinking formaldehyde disinfectant. he had been committed in 1968 after burglary conviction. Bus riders face 40 cent fare May 17 as transit workers receive a 16 cent wage rise.
