Mrs. Dwight Criner, 54, chased a teenage car thief across western Franklin County in a 10 mile pursuit. Her husband urged the chase as she sped along gravel roads and forced the thief to stop, then police took custody of the suspect for auto theft inquiry.
Ex Marine William A. Szill told Rep Richard Schweiker he helped retrieve and secretly bury Ruben Lopez, a Cuban described as a Castro spy, after Lopez was shot by Captain Arthur J. Jackson on the Guantanamo base in 1961. Schweiker calls for full congressional investigation into Szill’s ouster.
A two car collision on U S by pass 40 west of Troy Illinois killed five people Saturday. One survivor, Mrs Charles Poling 53 of Van Wert Ohio, was listed in satisfactory condition. Victims include Charles Pollug and his brother William Poling of Battle Creek Michigan, William’s wife Beatrice 65 of Van Wert Ohio, Jesse Shaffer 57 of Camp Hill Pennsylvania, and Emma K Motter 73 of Summerdale Pennsylvania. Edwards Funeral Home identified the dead.
Premier Souvanna Phouma flew to Khang Khay to seek an end to a month long Laos dispute with the Pathet Lao. Souphanouvong pressed talks on broader coalition issues while Kong Le denied airlift charges and invited observers to verify troop movements.

Oiva Maenpaa aged 49 of Conneaut Ohio was found dead aboard the ore carrier Silver Bay in Duluth. He was the first assistant engineer and is believed to have fallen about 22 feet during an inspection. The vessel is owned by Republic Steel Corp.

Ohio and Indiana state police joined in a rapid transport mission to deliver adrenocorticotropic drug from Upjohn Co in Cincinnati to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Troopers Treland and Lietzan coordinated the delivery, reaching the hospital by 6 a.m. to aid the critically ill 2-year-old Lawrence Luthe.

Dean Francis B. Sayre of the National Episcopal Cathedral climbed a 100 foot scaffold to break windows and vent smoke as a fire caused an estimated 17000 damage. Firemen said the blaze began in a faulty motor and damaged a limestone pillar and wooden wall in a construction area. See picture on Page 12.
A massive blast at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory near Rocket Center West Virginia damaged the propellant plant and offices. Three men were missing presumed dead and ten injured with one in serious condition. Investigators from the Navy and Hercules Powder Co. arrived as the plant, a key rocket propellant facility, was evaluated for damage and safety.
Harold Harger 20 of Tiffin drowned after falling into Rock Creek while fishing Friday night. He was the son of Robert Harger the executive secretary of the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce.
Census Bureau director Richard M. Scammon says the so called good old days were bad by modern standards. He notes higher child mortality and lower living standards then while population growth and rising education lift current times. He projects 210 to 215 million Americans by 1970 with Florida and California among fastest growing states.
Former President Harry S. Truman cancels his planned speech at a Law Day observance in Cincinnati due to ill health. Spokesmen for the Cincinnati Bar Association said Truman became ill earlier in the week at an event in Kansas City.
