West German contact man sees vast trade with China
Karl Titscher, West Germany’s premier East-West trade liaison, says Western business may expand dramatically with China. He notes a $150 million steel deal near signature and leads a 32 week China trip for 20 West German and 10 British businessmen. He cites rising Bonn Peking trade and predicts further growth despite Western competition. He travels 90,000 miles yearly behind the Iron Curtain and emphasizes language plus cultural insight in advancing deals.
