Trenton vows tighter budgets as fire levy faces voters
City Manager Patrick Titterington warned residents that a 1.5 mill fire levy and a potential charter amendment on the May 3 ballot could trigger significant personnel and service cuts. Combined with possible $350,000 state funding loss, up to $1 million of the general fund is at risk, with costs rising next year to replace a 33 year old reserve fire truck. If the levy fails, the city would lose about $250,000 annually from the general fund starting next year.
