Two fatal traffic accidents reported in same day

Two people died in separate traffic crashes in the city within five hours. Dennis Horne, 8, was struck on Grand Avenue near Gladys Drive by Ruth Bailey, 17, who was not charged. Denny died at Middletown Hospital. Julian Gezinski, 61, a Kroger produce manager, died after a near head-on collision on Verity Parkway near Lafayette Avenue. his car and a second vehicle collided, trapping both drivers.

GNP Rises 5.2 Percent in First Quarter 1977

The Commerce Department reports the nations GNP grew 5.2 percent at an annual rate in Q1 1977 the sharpest rise in a year signaling economic improvement. Severe winter weather trimmed real output by about 1.5 percentage points and pushed prices higher.

Bedside graduation honors dying student in Ohio

Michael Scammahorn 18, youngest of seven, died of cancer hours after a bedside graduation at his mother's home in Vandalia near Dayton. Teacher Dwight Elkins recalled his final days after a brain tumor diagnosis on February 18 and a prior February 14 incident. Funeral services are set for Friday.

Weather Outlook Sees Cloudy Skies and Scattered Showers

Weather forecasts call for considerably cloudy skies with a 50 percent rain chance tonight and 70 percent Thursday. Tonight's low near 60 and Thursday's high in the upper 70s. Extended outlook shows daily showers Friday through Sunday with highs in the 70s and 60s and overnight lows around 50.
