CAPTAIN MISSING AS THREE BARGES EXPLODE ON OHIO RIVER
Three barges laden with oil and gasoline exploded and burned after colliding with the Cannelton Locks on the Ohio River. The towboat backed away before the blast and a captain was reported missing. Deckhands John Dorr and Steve Johnson were treated. Mary Mercer was admitted in fair condition. The towboat was owned by Hein Inc of Bowling Green Kentucky.

Oil and gas blaze damages Indiana river locks
Deputy Jasper described a high water barrier to wreckage while flames from oil and gas stretched four to five miles from the locks to Troy Indiana.
