Police search for five suspects dressed as bunnies who threw eggs at Charles Booker’s home and shattered a front window with a beer can. The incident occurred Friday in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, about 15 miles north of Uniontown.
EPA chief Russell Train warned that the influx of about 17 million Bicentennial visitors could worsen Washington air quality this summer. He anticipated possible air alerts but doubted a driving ban. federal workers might be asked not to drive if alerts occur.
Minot officials warn danger remains after Souris River crested seven feet above flood stage. About 12,000 residents were evacuated. two weeks may pass before return. Dikes 25 feet high helped but complacency risks linger as sandbagging and patrols continue.
In Denver, FBI agents shot and killed Roger Lyle Lentz after he hijacked a private plane and held two hostages for seven hours. The incident began in Grand Island Nebraska, included two Colorado flights, and ended aboard a Convair jet near Greeley after Lentz demanded flights to Mexico. Pilot Robert Blair and mechanic Harlan Hiller were uninjured. Authorities had previously engaged Lentz after gun battles in Grand Island and noted he faced prior charges including vehicular homicide and larceny.
Cloudy skies in Middletown tonight with lows in the low 50s. A chance of showers Tuesday with highs around the mid 70s. Overnight low last night was 55. Extended outlook shows showers Wednesday and Thursday and fair skies Friday.
