Centerburg Ohio six people died in a head on collision on Easter Sunday. Emory Blevins 30 of Mansfield drove one car and Marie Salyer 24 of Centerburg the other. Also killed were Frances Salyer 20 Hida Blevins 24 and two Blevins children Danny 6 Jackie 5. Two other Blevins children Jenet 342 and Pamela Sue 2 survived in fair condition at Children's Hospital Columbus.

Ohio Governor Michael V. DiSalle delays the April 22 execution of Frank Poindexter for first degree murder to study the case further. Poindexter, 50, of Cincinnati, was to die tonight. accomplice Hollis Leigh received a life term. Poindexter’s clemency stay follows a 3-2 Pardon and Parole Commission vote in his favor.
President Gamal Abdel Nasser returns to Cairo after an 18 day visit to India and Pakistan. He speaks to cheering crowds saying he found wide support for Arab nationalism.
A manhunt spread through hill country southwest of New Philadelphia after farmer William Fender 59 and his wife Bernice 54 were found slain in their farm home near Doylestown Wayne County Ohio. Police linked a high speed chase to the wrecked car as investigators traced ownership and sought a suspect for questioning.
A 10 pound red haired baby boy was mailed from Dallas Texas to Salt Lake City Utah. Officers seek court approval for an autopsy as it may have been alive in the box. The package bore the return address Mary Sue Goss 3522 Wycliff Dallas. The box was delivered to Henry L Goss in Salt Lake City though the address was non existent. Police link this to a pair of local slayings and a shooting in Rittman Medina County involving Mrs Lewis Wagner 25 who was wounded. Kenneth Watts 21 of Wayne County West Virginia is sought for questioning.
Hayts Missouri AP reports four members of the Green family die when their boat capsized during a wind storm. Victims include Mary Green 50 Madeline Green 20 of St Louis Debra Ann 2 and Jerry Elaine five months. Mack Green 50 survived by swimming to shore as high Mississippi floodwaters inundate land around the Mack Greens farm.
Towering flames swept a ball park in Memphis destroying a city block of shops and damaging two hospitals. 68 babies were hurried to safety by a rapid human chain while 200 patients were moved at Baptist Hospital. No serious injuries were reported with total damage pegged near one to five million dollars.
