East Pakistan Rebels Crumbling Under Army
In East Pakistan, resistance to Yahya Khan’s army falters as it faces swift, well equipped advances from the West. Bengalis brace for harsher crackdown while Awami League allies and Marxists fear reprisals, and guerrilla efforts struggle amid shortages, disorganization, and limited airpower. The Pakistani force sweeps toward Kushtia and Jessore while Dacca remains contested and casualties rise.

County May Seek Court Over Hawkins Road Bridge
County Engineer Stanley M Perm told commissioners that a 63 year old one lane Hawkins Road bridge on the Lemon Liberty line between Salzman and Yankee Roads may require court action to force Penn Ce Railroad to fund replacements. He noted chunks of concrete fall onto tracks about 20 feet below and that six of nine county railroad bridges are in poor shape. Arthur F Reiff urged pursuing the issue despite potential court action.
