AK Steel Corp says it will add a titanium component to its stainless steel raw material surcharge due to a nearly five fold rise in titanium alloy costs since early 2004. The surcharge, effective May 1, applies to all stainless steel sheet, strip and plate products with titanium, calculated from titanium usage and a base rate of 3.50 per pound, using March 2005 monthly titanium price data for May shipments.
NCR Corp says first quarter earnings will be at least 16 cents per share, more than three times higher than prior forecasts, driven by solid results in ATMs, retail checkout scanners, and data warehouses. The company will report on April 28, with Thompson Financial analysts expecting 5 cents per share.
