AP reports a $6 per ton steel price rise will raise costs on many steel items from pots and pans to houses and autos. Indirect effects may increase electricity bills as power costs rise. President Kennedy warned higher steel costs could lift prices across goods if industry-wide.
In Dayton AP report two University of Dayton students Joe Zenovic and Gerald O'Brien claim the world record for the longest lighter flame at one hour 33 minutes 30 seconds. They say a Schenectady student held 83 minutes 30 seconds previously. The ads students kept the lighter submerged in water to control heat and flame size.
In Celina Ohio a train struck an automobile carrying Lester Wynk his wife Wilma eight months pregnant and their three children Mary six Joseph five killing them and the unborn child. One child survived as the family car traveled along a private lane crossing in Mercer County. The Nickel Plate train went 35 to 60 mph blowing its whistle for over a mile. The engineer and firemen said they could see the car but it did not stop.

They warn of social unrest as import duties higher, taxes rise, gasoline and electric rates jump, and railway fares may follow. The measures aim to repair the economy after Peron's dictatorship. labor has protested Frondizi's milder austerity policies.
New York public school teachers returned to classrooms after a one day strike ended by a vote of the AFL-CIO United Federation of Teachers executive board. The board backed obedience to a State Supreme Court order and urged return to work to avoid penalties.
Armco Steel Corp refused comment on steel price increases after U S Steel announced a 3 percent rise. A spokesman said Armco has no comment to make at this time as executives discuss the response to President Kennedy's criticism and the cross company reactions following U S Steel's action.
