A Humble Texas man, 37, linked to threatening President Carter and hijacking a tow truck ended a 2 000 mile route after authorities intercepted the vehicle near Lebanon Missouri. He remained jailed as federal or state charges were considered. The incident began when hitchhikers reported a gunman intent on reaching Washington to discuss Panama Canal treaties. The suspect’s car, stolen in Pecos Texas, was traced through Flagstaff and Albuquerque before Lebanon. No injuries were reported.
