Ordinance Targets Race Horse Betting In City
City Commissioners adopted a gambling ordinance aimed at race horse betting and related activities. The law imposes fines from 200 to 500 dollars for first offenses and up to six months in jail for repeat violations, with additional penalties for keeping gambling rooms and possessing payoff or betting slips. The measure also covers wagers on games of chance and seeks conformity with state statutes while recognizing local race track nuances.
