Treasury figures through March 2 show weak income tax receipts may cut 1950 budget revenues by up to 1.5 billion dollars. Despite some spending lag, experts warn the deficit could exceed six billion dollars, with delayed outlays boosting next year’s totals. Corporations and high income individuals drive the shortfall, delaying the arch 15 tax deadline effects.
Los Angeles Daily News announces it will publish editions daily between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. General Manager Robert Smith explains morning and afternoon labels are misnomers as papers hit streets the night before or start at 9 a.m. The paper stops four and five Star early editions and adds press facilities and transport to boost afternoon coverage.
