The Supreme Court Second District lists county offices with candidates including County Judge Stephen W. Fullerton Surrogate Henry A. Wadsworth District Attorney Lewis E. Carr Justice of Sessions William E. Waterbury and Coroners Samuel Gibbs and George C. Miller.
A Goshen county convention of the Republican party nominating a unified slate praised as harmonious and strong. Newburgh is named for County Judge, Stephen W. Fullerton for Supreme Court, Henry Wadsworth for Surrogate, Lewis E. Carr for District Attorney, Waterbury for Sessions, with notable supporters from Minisink Middletown Port Jervis and Newburgh and a ticket aimed at broad victory.

The subject for the Young People's Meeting next Monday evening is A Forgiving Spirit. Conductor Clark Crawford and Rev. D. McAllister will lecture at Empire Hall on the 19th about the Acknowledgment of God In the Constitution. Rev. S W Mills of Port Jervis resigns his pastoral charge at the Reformed Church, pending Classis action.
A drunken eastbound passenger on train 3) alighted at Sufferns on Tuesday evening and, attempting to reboard as the train started, was struck by the wheels, losing both legs.
Conductor Russell Hurd of the Eastern Division of the Erie Railway died after stumbling into a cattle guard while backing a train on the Piermont Branch. He was run over and killed instantly as the train moved away. His body was sent to Port Jervis where he lived with a wife and child. Hurd previously served in the 56th Regiment and held a life insurance policy of 3200 dollars.
The new Harbormaster Bell store welcomed guests Thursday night in a room praised as one of New York State’s finest for business. Col. McConnal painted the frescoed walls and ceiling, elevating the venue’s acclaimed design. Friends crowded the storeroom to celebrate Bell’s good taste and public spirit.
Anna Dickinson has earned 8100 since 1860 from lecturing and Olive Logan, in business three years, 84000. Olive will lecture at Bull's Opera House Middletown on Monday evening next and again in the Merchants Library Association series in New York taking Dickinson’s place.
The Morris Brothers, famed minstrels, will entertain at the village Opera House Tuesday evening with vocal and instrumental numbers in comic and serious moods. Their lively act promises racy humor without vulgarity, pleasing the town’s best patrons and providing a welcome, hearty laugh amid busy times.
The Russian Grand Duke Alexis will visit West Point the week after next aboard the Hudson River steamer Chauncey Villard, chartered for the occasion. Tickets are sold for $15. The vessel is being specially ornamented for the grand event.
Tuesday an accident near Ridgbury injured John Burns of Wawayanda. While driving a team for W. D. Hunt a load of barrels of cider tipped, he fell beneath the load and his arm was broken.
Through a compositor error the notice for Miss M. F. Corwin Opening was left out of the last issue. It will appear today under new advertisements with the same details and timing.
Dr Foote states work on the asylum foundation was never suspended and the discharge order was only withheld for the present. Mr Wheeler, building committee chair, is pressing to continue work, and observers attest to the high quality of the completed work.
Among the sufferers by the Chicago fire is Mr. J Bullock, an artist formerly of Middletown, who recently left with his family to reside in Chicago and is now completely destitute. Already raised for general relief, an additional purse is being organized for his family's individual benefit.
Fires across Green Bay Wisconsin and parts of Indiana have burned upwards of 200 people in Wisconsin and caused immense damage in both states. Alarm remains high as fires, begun months ago, continue to rage in prairie and forest lands.
At the Wantage Pleasure Grounds track near Deckertown the late Horse Fair hosted five races. The best time was 2:26 by blk. m. Lady Weller. James Post of Middletown served as a judge on the first day.
