Decoration Observed and Temperance Address Planned at Good Templars Hall

A Saturday meeting at Good Templars Hall named May 5 20 as the decoration day with a procession from the Presbyterian church to Mount Hope cemetery. Rev R H Craig to open with prayer and local speakers including L Littell J B Brady C J Baxter and Geo Wiggins Jr to speak. Flowers may be donated at F S Tymeson store by Tuesday morning. Also a temperance address by A W Gleason Esq Grand Worthy Patriarch of the Sons of Temperance Eastern New York is announced for Howell's Division No 409 S of T on Tuesday May 30 but time for the address was later postponed with notice to follow in the PRESS.

Resumption of the Coal Trade at Port Jervis

Port Jervis rejoices as coal traffic resumes with five trains Monday for Hawley carrying about seventy five cars. Anthracite coal train returns after January, while rail engines are limited due to repairs. Delaware and Hudson Canal Company orders boat crews ready as canal operations begin, with about one thousand boats and three thousand workers slated to run.

Death of an Octogenarian in Mamakating

Moses Jordan died of old age at his son in law Oliver M. Comfort’s residence in Mamakating aged 86 years and 5 months. He had lived in Walkill since 1817 until last autumn when he moved to Myomy Fort near New Vernon in Sullivan County.

Horsemen are invited to inspect Hiram Woodruff’s renowned trotting horses book at the Pras office in Middletown. Bal ance, owned by E. M. Madden, is not sold but sent to John Lovett for training. Alfred B. Post sold bays carriage horses from the Harry Clay stock to J. H. Hill of Boston for $2,000. No two year old Rysdick Hambletonian colts exist this year.

Florida notes report Edward Bertholf sold a magnolia mare with sucking colt by N Roe Messenger Hambletonian to James M Mills for 1000 dollars and refused a 500 dollar offer for a yearling sired by the same horse. Mos es Webb is training two fine three year olds, a Billy Denton and Hetzel Hambletonian. James Penny drives a fast three year old Iron Duke.
