The January term of the Supreme Court and Court of Oyer and Terminer met at Goshen Court House at 11 a.m. with Justices Pratt Waterbury Wood presiding. Foreman of Grand Jury named as F R Broadhead. several petit jurors excused. Multiple cases: motions referred to clerks, divorce action ordered to proofs, sheriff to pay over foreclosure sale funds, probate and sale judgments, and confirmations of sheriff’s reports.
In Pleasantville Pennsylvania a warm homecoming greeted Mr. and Mrs. Chattle and kin on their return from Orange County. A jovial party of neighbors and prominent locals arrived with baskets and hampers and took possession of the house led by their pastor Rev. Mr. 8. The gathering ended as the Sabbath approached with cheerful reflections and good wishes for the guests.

D W Cox of Mount Hope reports sale of a city lot in Newburgh to Uptegrove and Co for 1000 dollars. Edward Johnson trades his house and lot for a 78 acre farm on the plank road two miles east of Pine Bush with Albert Schoonmaker.
Attendance has crowded the chapel this week, prompting St Pauls Church to open its large auditorium for Friday and Saturday mornings at 9 o clock to accommodate all. Tomorrow's meeting will be conducted by a layman.

Ulster County brakesman Wessel Brodhead, recently hired on the Erie Railway, died after a fatal accident at Howells. While adjusting a brake, a sudden train jerk threw him between cars, his head crushed by rails. He was found mangled and died en route at Port Jervis then taken to Highland Falls.

Otisville’s Samuel K Wheat fell on ice, injuring his hip and confining him since. he is about seventy.
Hugh Lowry again buys John Decker’s 84 acre farm one mile east of the village for 4500 after previously purchasing it for the same price about a year earlier. The seller Decker reportedly recanted under pressure and then sold again for 4500, netting Lowry a 700 profit on the transaction.
Howell's Gilbert Bannaster of New Vernon suffered a leg fracture from a severe fall on the ice. Dr. G. E. Putney set the broken parts and reports the patient is now doing well.

Edward S. Stokes born 1841 in Philadelphia became wealthy and married well. He met Fisk and Mrs. Mansfield, leading to embezzlement charges and a failed false imprisonment suit. Stokes claimed Fisk swindled him of over 200000 and, unable to continue, allegedly planned to murder Fisk amid a lengthy public legal fight.
