Separately in Buffalo a labor standoff continues as freight hands refuse to work for current pay, amid grain elevator strain and mediation talks.
May 1 8 William Shy and Sa of Haverstraw NY and Wan Brackett of Coegmany NY were arrested and arraigned on charges related to the mysterious death of Henry K Line. They were remanded pending coroner's investigation. Brackett and Condon were aboard the barge Robert Blair Live dix appeared May L after a short visit, and yesterday his body was found drifting in the river near Seventy ninth street New York.
At noon today Governor held a hearing on the Ford franchise tax bill. Many street railway and related interests appeared to oppose it, including ex-Senator David B. Hitt who spoke for railroads in Eliira and nearby towns. The Tammany Hall delegation urged the bill despite not meeting all Democratic desires, arguing it would improve current statutes and deserve the Governor's signature.
A Pittsburg and AVeat 1 railroad train plunged seventy feet through a trestle at Amomated Peak near Spiegier's Run, killing four men and injuring many. Some of the injured may die, with multiple victims reported. The disaster is under investigation by authorities.
