Chicago June 26 Former United States senator Lyman Trumbull died at his home in Chicago. Born in Colchester Connecticut in 1813 he served as teacher lawyer judge and politician. He began as an anti slavery Democrat later joined Republicans with Lincoln helping found the party and later became a Democrat again before opposing expansion of federal courts and siding with populists. His last court appearance was as counsel for American Railway union officers before the Supreme Court. He was twice married Julia Jayne in 1843 died 1868 and Mary Ingraham in 1887.
