The Washington platform gains backing from sixteen states including New England New York New Jersey Pennsylvania Maryland Illinois Wisconsin Minnesota Kentucky Tennessee and Washington. Washington June 11 naval constructors S Takakura and S Sakurai of the Japanese navy met at the Navy Department with Commander Mayaoka to inspect American shipbuilding. They visited Cramps’ Philadelphia works and will tour Union Iron Works in San Francisco. Japan plans an expanded navy and will request bids from U.S. shipyards for likely developments.
