Foreclosure Suit Filed on Cheltenham Beach Company Property
In Chicago on June 15 a bill was filed to foreclose a trust deed for 190,934 dollars on Cheltenham Beach company property. The deed, dated June 25, 1891, secured a loan. The Cheltenham Beach company, formed to develop a summer resort and bathing beach on Lake Michigan below Jackson park, purchased about 160 acres and built a hotel and ancillary structures, but the venture never became financially successful.

Rush for Pensions Expands Clerical Staff
Washington June 15 The rush of veterans applying for pensions under the new administration has grown so large that 30 extra clerks were added to the pension bureau record division. In ten days ending last Saturday applicants totaled 14 300 and in 83 days after March the office disposed of 84 100 claims. About 25 000 claims are pending.
