Washington December 11 Acting Secretary McAdoo summoned chiefs of construction engineering and ordnance along with Commodores Hickorn Melville and Sampson to order repairs on all ships in commission at Atlantic coast yards. The aim is to have available vessels ready for drills with Bunce's fleet and to advance overhaul on vessels awaiting commissioning or transfer to other duties.

Rushville Ky December mob violence ends in triple lynching of Arch Proctor Dink Proctor and Bill Proctor. From Adairville area, the men were seized from jail after midnight and hanged at a cedar on Nashville road. Jailer pleaded for mercy but mob violence prevailed. Arch Proctor had murdered Aaron and Hoe Crafton. Dink Proctor faced conspiracy charges. Bill Proctor resisted and was shot then finished with a pistol shot. Abs Proctor’s wife slept unaware as the mob carried out the executions without allowing last words.
The body of Alexander Herrmann famed magician arrives from Salamanca and will lie in state at the Masonic temple in New York for the funeral to be held tomorrow afternoon. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The report also notes a Hartford town meeting approving five year tax abatements for manufacturing locators in East Hartford. Washington December 19 The Spanish minister declines to discuss the Cameron resolution saying sensational papers may publish alleged statements but he will not be drawn into any discussion or criticism. He warns against any attributed remarks and will not talk privately on the matter under any circumstances.
Princeton loses to Harvard for the third time in intercollegiate debate on the resolution urging a system of responsible cabinet government under constitutional amendments. About 1500 spectators watched as Princeton defended the affirmative and Harvard the negative. Judges included J. K. Hawley, C Harrison, and Dr. Carmilton Mabie.
