Howe arrest sparks talk of marriage and motives

Lowell Massachusetts December 4 Edwin A Howe and his wife were savagely assaulted by burglars interrupted at their home. Alfred Howe their 21 year old son was arrested for assault with intent to kill after investigators found gas burners left on and a missing trinket hidden in the cellar. Widrig Found Guilty of Second Degree Murder in Springville Killing

Warren Widrig was convicted of murder in the second degree for the Aug. 6 killing of his wife in Springville, Erie County. He was sentenced to life in Auburn prison. His 15-year-old daughter Mercy testified as principal witness. Widrig asked to speak, admitting past wrongs and expressing remorse.

Special Session Called by Governor Tanner in Illinois

Governor Tanner issued a proclamation calling a special session of the general assembly to meet December 7 in Springfield. Geor ge Blodgett shot by burglars in Schenectady

George R Blodgett counsel for General Electric Company was mortally wounded in his Schenectady home by burglars who entered at 11 Front Street. He chased the intruder downstairs before collapsing. two or three burglars escaped with minor plunder as police and doctors fear internal injuries and a grave prognosis. The burglary also touched Town House in Glenville hills where farmer John Cochrane was attacked during a later incident.
