Abandoned Steamer Set Ablaze After Perilous Escape
The British tramp steamer Forter, launched from West Bay Nova Scotia June 23, sprang a leak after a gale July 25 and four boats were lowered on the 27th. To attract attention a deck fire was started. the crew of 20 aboard were rescued by the Sagamore, a steel vessel, which arrived in Boston with all hands.
