First Negro jockey rides at fashionable Hialeah Park
Hosea Lee Richardson, a 16 year old apprentice from Columbia South Carolina, is licensed to ride at Hialeah Park opening season in January for trainer Tommy Root. BIW Tops Dorsey In Turkey Day Classic Dust Bowl Clash
More than 6 000 rabid fans braved the dust at Dorsey Park to watch the Booker T. Washington Tornadoes defeat the Dorsey Bulls 20 to 0 in the Turkey Day Classic. The Tornadoes struck first in the opening quarter on a blocked punt and led 6 0 at halftime. A five yard end around and an interception set up the final score as a long parade by both schools delighted thousands.

First African Bishop Consecrated in Gold Coast
