Wife and boyfriend killer, Jackson, gets 40 years
Brownsville man James T. Jackson, 26, was sentenced this week by Circuit Judge Vincent Giblin to 40 years on each of two second degree murder convictions for the slayings of his wife Christine Jackson and friend Daniel Jones last November. The terms are to be served concurrently. Jackson’s prior record was clean and the judge will recommend parole when eligible.

Two Miamians to Receive Honors at Bethune-Cookman
Dr. Kelsey L. Pharr, retired mortician, and Rev. J. E. Culmer, rector of St. Agnes Episcopal Church, will be awarded honorary doctor of laws degrees at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach during the 51st commencement on campus Monday. All-Negro Jury Serves in Tenn in Historic Trial
Jackson Tenn Madison County held its first all Negro jury on May 24 for a housebreaking case. Defendant Earl Davis, 19, was found guilty and faces a three year prison term after being released on a $2,500 bond. His attorney Frank Cannon said Huie is busy in Hollywood writing a screenplay and would send a check once court costs are set.

Presbyterians take stand for desegregation
Delegates to the 167th general assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States closed their session Thursday with a firm stand for desegregation. Million Dollar Concord Baptist Church Opens June 5
Brooklyn Concord Baptist Church in Brooklyn plans a June 5 entry into its new $1.2 million sanctuary marking the 108th anniversary of its founding. The fire-destroyed prior church is remembered as the old town church. Services will be held in the assembly hall with completion expected early 1956.

Florida A and M Bethune Create Annual Classic Rivalry
Inaugural arrangements for a yearly football classic between Florida A and M University and Bethune-Cookman College are underway. House In Weak Try To Bar Integration
A Tallahassee house committee approved by a 7 to 6 vote a constitutional amendment to permit by county abolition of the public school system in order to create private schools. Rep.
