Oklahoma student wins Talladega All-Expense Scholarship
Miss Esther V. Young of Douglass High School Oklahoma City wins a 2300 dollar All-Expense Scholarship to Talladega College after a spring Competitive Scholarship Examination for 1300 seniors in thirteen Southern states. She begins in September in music, with Vivian B. Vaughn Arm strong High School Richmond Virginia and Alice A. Wilson Dunbar High School Little Rock Arkansas placing second and third. Other high ranking students win scholarships ranging from 100 to 260 dollars.

Citizens Memorial Services At Bayfront Park Tuesday
Memorial Day observance will climax with ceremonies at Bayfront Park Tuesday evening. Beginning at 8 o clock a band concert will be conducted by the 51st Infantry Band of the Florida National Guard. At 8 30 a massing of the colors ceremony will include representatives of American Legion Posts in the area. Four ten minute speakers will appear: Rev. Fr. Philbin, Rev. Daniel Iverson, Rev. John E. Culmer, and Rabbi Max Shapiro. 250 seats are reserved for Negro patrons. the public is invited. Tuesday morning a committee from John Griffin Post and Auxiliary will visit cemeteries and place flags on graves.

In Raleigh on May 24 race baiting postal cards with a fake New York address were mailed to White voters as part of a bid to unseat Sen. Frank Graham. Campaign manager Jeff D. Johnson Jr. said the cards bore the signature of "W. White" and claimed to be from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, but no such address exists and the NAACP’s real address is 20 W. 40th St. New York.

Whites Give Skin to Burned Child
In Memphis Tennessee a seven year old girl suffered severe burns when her sweater ignited from a wood stove. Surgeons patched her charred skin with grafts from five White donors after a public appeal in The Memphis Press Scimitar. The procedure covered sixty percent of her body with temporary skin to save her life while awaiting healing.

Hear Suit To Block Slum Vote Monday
