Hotel Workers Rally Aids Wage Reform In Harlem

The Hotel Workers Association led by an interracial committee will hold a two hour benefit program in the Harlem Square Club ballroom this Friday night March 11 at 9 00 pm for improved working conditions and higher wages. Wilson W Lyster Sr chairman will explain plans, joined by Elliott K Hardy William Long Perry and other local figures. An hour long show and entertainment by local stars accompany the rally.

Dorsey Student Wins NCCJ Brotherhood Award

Albertha Johnson received one of three NCCJ silver medallions for youth contributions to brotherhood. She is the first Black recipient in the South. The presentation by Y-Teen director Miss Reta Reed occurred at the NCCJ Brotherhood Dinner in the Fontainebleau hotel. The Intergroup Youth Council hosted the event on Feb 24.

Local NAACP To Hold Mass Meeting Thursday

Fr Washington Returns From Africa Mission Work

Rev Fr Curtis Washington SVD native of Miami and protege of Msgr Thomas Comber has returned from Foreign Missions in the Gold Coast Central West Africa. He has worked five years with international personnel from the United States Ireland England Holland Czechoslovakia Germany Italy Hungary and Switzerland among 4 million Africans in the mission area.
