Miami family lauds Hampton graduate Joseph Clark

Miami couple Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clark Sr celebrated their youngest son Joseph Clark graduating from Hampton Institute on June 4 with scholastic honors. He served as Student Council President and an exchange student. The family was honored June 8 by the Hampton Alumni Association for five children graduating from Hampton and one from Tuskegee.

Killer of Three Gets Life in Florida Trial

Edward Bubba Roberts 26 was found guilty on three counts of first degree murder for the April 2 killings of his wife Blanche 28 and in-laws James Smith 67 and Miriam Smith 66 at 6930 NW 18th Ave. The jury's verdict avoids the death penalty, sentencing to life in prison with Judge Robert L. Floyd to impose the formal sentence Friday at 1 45 PM. The three day trial in Dade County Circuit Court featured testimony from 16 witnesses, a near capacity crowd, and a largely Black spectator presence.

Two Miami Cops Resign Over Dope Bribery Charges

Two Miami patrolmen, Reggie Sandilands and Roy Hines, resigned after last week end and faced charges for taking 90 dollars in protection money from Gabriel Limarto, a Puerto Rican dope peddler. They were jailed last Thursday night and remain free on 2500 dollar bail awaiting trial. Each man, veteran officers, could face five to ten years in prison or a five thousand dollar fine if convicted.

Mizell Asks New Trial In Libel Suit

Dr. Von D. Mizell seeks a new trial in a Leon County Circuit Court libel case filed by Rep. Prentice Pruitt of Monticello. A May 31 jury ordered Mizell to pay Pruitt 15000 for a protest telegram about segregation legislation that damaged Pruitt professionally and socially.
